AUTHORITIES in the Thai capital, Bangkok, are preparing to hold The 41st Bangkok International Motor Show, an annual auto show that has been postponed twice due to a pandemic. The exhibition will show Thailand’s success in controlling COVID-19.
From Detroit in the United States to Geneva in Switzerland, auto shows had to be canceled because of a pandemic. COVID-19 also made many people hesitate to return to continue the traditional way of marketing the automotive.
According to the managing director of the Grand Prix International, Prachin Eamlumnow said the 41st Bangkok International Motor Show will be open to visitors on Wednesday. The exhibition was successfully held after being postponed twice since March 2020.
“This is more than an automotive exhibition, because it also shows Thailand’s reputation because the organizers of other events will also take a look. The Grand Prix is the organizer of the exhibition,” Prachin said.
Pracin added, Thailand would be the first country to hold a large-scale automotive exhibition since COVID-19 was declared a pandemic by the World Health Organization (WHO). Local authorities announced there had been no local COVID-19 transmission in the past seven weeks. The government also relaxed the restriction rules that were originally set to suppress transmission.
“The move was made to revive the economy in Thailand. Thailand is one of the major automotive manufacturers in Southeast Asia. Last year’s automotive exhibition in Thailand was visited by more than one million people,” he said.
He explained, the organizer promised to limit visitors this year, and monitor those who entered the exhibition hall. In the event, 25 car brands, including Ford and Subaru, as well as 22 motorcycle manufacturing companies, will display their superior products.
“Each exhibition tent will have its own entrance and exit. Visitors are also required to scan the QR barcode on their device when entering the exhibition room, while at last year’s event, visitors can freely enter and exit the room. Officers at the exhibition tent will also wear masks and face shields during the exhibition which takes place July 15-26. The government allows us to hold this event, but we must be careful,” Prachin concluded. [antaranews]
