PT Angkasa Pura II (AP II) assesses that the restoration of aviation traffic at the airport under its management has resumed in July 2020 with a record increase in passenger numbers to 143% compared to June 2020.
According to the Director of Operations and Services of AP II Muhamad Wasid in an official broadcast, Tuesday (4/8) said in the period 1-31 July 2020 the number of passenger movements in 19 airports cumulatively reached 1.52 million passengers or an increase of 143% compared to 1 -30 June 2020 as many as 627,576 passengers.
“The aircraft’s movements recorded 21,431 movements or up 65% from the previous 13,020 movements. The volume of cargo transportation also increased 14% from 43.162 million kilograms to 49.076 million kilograms,” he said.
Wasid continued, specifically at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Tangerang, the number of passengers throughout July 2020 was recorded at 897,559 passengers, up 125% compared to June 2020 with 398,223 passengers, with aircraft movements up 68% to 12,270 movements.
He explained that slot time utilization at the company’s airports has also increased. In July 2020, slot time utilization at the company’s airports reached around 30%, such as in Soekarno-Hatta which reached 32%.
According to him, the restoration of aviation traffic this year amidst the pandemic has taken place since mid-June 2020, in line with the support of regulators through various policies and the implementation of strict health protocols at airports and aircraft so as to maintain public confidence in the national aviation sector.
“In August, his office estimates that the number of passengers, aircraft movements, and flight slot time utilization will increase. As an illustration, on August 3, 2020, the number of passengers in Soekarno-Hatta reached 37,000 passengers with 400 flights. This figure is quite high for the beginning of the week especially after the long weekend on July 31-August 1,” he concluded. [photo special]
