ANGKASA PURA I SERVES 1.6 MILLION PASSENGERS IN FEBRUARY 2021

PT Angkasa Pura I (AP I) recorded that the highest number of passengers in February 2021 occurred at Sultan Hasanuddin Airport in Makassar, amounting to 452,117 people.

According to Vice President AP I Handy Heryudhitiawan, the company has served 1,695,485 movements of people in 15 airports in February 2021. Meanwhile, aircraft traffic in February amounted to 24,193 aircraft movements and cargo traffic of 32,638,901 kg.

“The highest passenger traffic in February 2021 was at Sultan Hasanuddin Airport Makassar with a traffic of 452,117 people, followed by the second highest passenger traffic at Juanda Airport Surabaya with 340,519 people, and the third highest passenger traffic at Sultan Aji Muhammad Sulaiman Airport [SAMS] Sepinggan. Balikpapan totaling 184,334 people,” he said in a press release.

Meanwhile for Bali, he continued, passenger traffic at I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport was 157,172 passengers. Previously, starting on February 18, 2021, I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport in Bali optimized daily operational time to be 13 hours with operating time from 07.00-20.00 WITA from the previous 16 hours with operational time from 07.00-23.00 WITA.

“This was done to see the number of aircraft movements at Bali Airport at that time, which were 10-14 aircraft movements per hour, while the runway capacity of Bali Airport could serve up to 18 aircraft movements per hour so that the runway capacity could still be optimized,” he said.

Previously, three AP I airports won the world-class ASQ Awards held by the Airport Council International (ACI) based in Montreal, Canada.

The three airports that won the Best Airports in Asia Pacific by Size award at the ASQ Awards from ACI are General Ahmad Yani Airport Semarang in the category of airport capacity of 2-5 million passengers per year, Sultan Hasanuddin Airport Makassar, and SAMS Sepinggan Airport Balikpapan in the category airport capacity of 5–15 million passengers per year.
