INDONESIA’S Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy kicked off the program to strengthen the Destination Management Organization and Destination Governance (DMO-DG), as an effort to accelerate the revitalization of destinations and the recovery of tourism in Bali towards a green zone.
This activity is carried out for three days, in areas that are green zones, starting from Nusa Dua (Hotel Courtyard Bali Nusa Dua on 3 May 2021), Sanur (Prime Plaza Hotel Sanur, 4 May 2021), and Ubud (The Royal Pita Maha Ubud), May 5, 2021).
The DMO-DG Strengthening Program is one of the strategies and management tools that involves pentahelix elements (academics, business, community/community, traditional/community leaders, local government & the media) in encouraging the improvement of the quality of tourism destinations so that they have the value of interest, power. competitiveness, and sustainability.
In addition, the DMO-DG also functions as a forum for all stakeholders at the local or regional level to actively participate in strengthening the tourism ecosystem, as well as a solution for arranging destinations and resolving real issues strategically.
“Today the kick-off event for the strengthening of the DMO-DG was well organized. The presence of the DMO-DG in the midst of the current dynamics of change is very relevant to strengthen innovation, adaptation and collaboration,” said the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno, when opening the Kick off event to strengthen the DMO-DG, virtually, (3/5).
According to Sandiaga, innovation, adaptation and collaboration are very crucial and very central. Because it can unite various components to build, organize, control, promote a destination that is responsible, quality, and sustainable, and strengthen the orchestration approach and system integration in destinations for development in a region or region.
“I hope that this event will create quality and sustainable destination management in Nusa Dua, Sanur and Ubud. So that it can be used as a concrete example to increase the confidence of the domestic and foreign markets. And of course the reputation of Bali and Indonesian destinations,” he stated.
Meanwhile, Deputy for Destination and Infrastructure Development of Tourism Ministry, Frans Teguh, explained simply that the DMO-DG is an effort to manage a region in preparing destinations, so that tourists feel safe and comfortable. So, spending and length of stay for tourists is much better.
“Therefore, it is necessary to collaborate with key stakeholders in each destination that becomes a green zone. We want to ensure that the involvement of these key stakeholders will truly build a quality and sustainable tourism ecosystem,” Frans added.
Likewise, the Director of Regional Destination Development II, Wawan Gunawan, revealed that the strengthening of the DMO-DG can be a solution for arranging destinations, and most importantly how the presence of the DMO-DG has a very extraordinary role in solving real issues strategically, both in the short term. or long term.
“I think this model can be an instrument to strengthen innovation, adaptation, and collaboration as pillars of tourism development that are often echoed by Minister Sandiaga,” he affirmed.
In the event, the Head of the Bali Provincial Tourism Office, I Putu Astawa, said that the Governor of Bali had given directions to develop tourism in Bali based on tourist villages. Because, this is done to conserve nature simultaneously.
“Bali is the Island of the Gods, the throne of the Gods, so we must really unite nature, preserve culture and the welfare of the community, so that we can make a real contribution.” Such is the dream in every tourist village that we want,” Putu explained.
