2 MINISTRIES COLLABORATION REVIVES TOURISM SECTOR & CREATIVE ECONOMY

TWO ministries, Ministry of Tourism & Creative Economy and Ministry of Investment/Indonesia Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) are collaborating to revive the tourism sector and creative economy affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno, in a meeting with the Minister of Investment/Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM), Bahlil Lahadalia, at the BKPM Office, South Jakarta, Monday (17/5), said collaboration was needed to increase investment figures in the tourism and creative economy sector in Indonesia.

“We want to ensure an increase in the contribution of tourism in the total investment figure in Indonesia by five to seven and a half percent by 2024,” Sandiaga said.

Sandiaga said that the increase in the investment figure is expected to open jobs for tourism and creative economy actors in the country. Given, there are around 34 million Indonesians who depend on the tourism and the creative economy sector.

“We also want to maximize this in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic that the tourism sector players and the creative economy can advance in class by taking advantage of digitalization opportunities. So that we hope that post-pandemic the economy will be more just,” he stated.

In this meeting, Sandiaga and Bahlil also discussed plans to form a Task Force for the Acceleration of Investment to increase investment coming from friendly countries and national entrepreneurs to advance the tourism sector and creative economy in various regions in Indonesia. Especially in the five super priority destinations.

“In addition, the formation of the task force that was just signed by the President on May 4, 2021, there is a need to increase Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) entrepreneurs in investment projects. Including in the tourism sector and creative economy, we will guard it so that our economy is more equitable,” Sandiaga noted.

He added that finally, we also want to make sure that too. Investment work opportunity programs and economic programs in the area are right on target, have the right benefits, and can touch our community members who really need it.

Meanwhile Minister of Investment/Head of BKPM, Bahlil Lahadalia, added that we welcome the collaboration between the two parties. According to him, there needs to be close collaboration between various parties to revive the tourism sector and the creative economy in the country.

“The sectoral ego has to be eliminated so there are no barriers. One problem if we can work together we can solve it quickly,” Bahlil concluded. [traveltext.id]
