VIRGIN’S ambitious project looks like it’s just a step away. After conducting a series of test aircraft to the orbat, Virgin Galatic seems to be getting serious about sending tourists into space. Tourists who pay more than IDR3.6 billion.
According to George Whitesides, CEO of Virgin Galactic, said Virgin Galactic has secretly trained 600 tourists who want to go out into space on their planes. Virgin Galactic is one of the few private companies that does not send tourists to space. Apart from these companies there are SpaceX and Blue Origin.
As reported by the Mirror, Virgin Galactic will be the first company to successfully send tourists to outer space. The tourists were then entered into a program called the Astronaut Readiness Program. The location of this program is at Under Armor’s headquarters in Baltimore. During the training, prospective tourists are checked for their health conditions, including fitness sessions and providing proper nutrition.
“It was great to see this first wave of travelers on the program. It goes down in history that they immediately went on a commercial journey into space,” Whitesides said.
He explained that they are not playing in this program, all the travelers must be prepared in detail. Neither the person nor the equipment. Every second of the journey in this program is precious. It is planned that a tourist trip to space will use the SpaceShipTwo and space suits prepared by Under Armor.
According to records, there are about 600 potential tourists who come from 60 countries. It is planned that this commercial trip will start in mid-2020. [sources/photo special]
