OPTIMISTIC THAT BOROBUDUR TEMPLE IS THE MAGNET OF RI’S TOURISM REVIVAL

THE Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy is optimistic that the magnet of Borobudur Temple will be the beginning of Indonesia’s economic and tourism revival.

According to the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno said, “I hope that once promoted, it will increase tourism, of course with a strict and disciplined health protocol frame,” said Sandiaga Uno at the closing of the “Trial of Civilization” at Plataran Resort in the Borowudur Region, Magelang Regency, Tuesday (6/22) night.

“Today is the conclusion of the ‘Trial of Civilization’ by designing a travel pattern for readiness from Borobudur as a super priority destination. This trial of civilization or traces of civilization is a tremendous attraction for a higher quality tourism approach and has an impact on sustainability and environmental sustainability.

“We learn about things that are very essential from civilization and a very interesting knowledge arises that we can learn that in 800 years when Borobudur Temple was founded, the culture of massage or spa already existed,” he said.

Sandiaga said that maybe Bali is known as the ‘spa capital of the world’, but at Borobudur Temple this is the birthplace of the ‘massage’ culture. In the Borobudur Temple area, tourists can also learn agro-tourism, learn about health through yoga, and there are pottery crafts using hand skills.

“Tourists can also visit several tourist villages that have village economic centers that can become economic drivers, create jobs and at this very challenging time are required to have better preparedness, be more resilient to face the new era of tourism,” he noted.

According to him, once the Semarang-Yogyakarta toll road will be opened and the new Yogyakarta Airport will function optimally, tourist visits to Magelang and its surroundings are estimated to reach 8 million to 12 million.

“This means that a new, more sustainable Borobudur Temple era must be prepared, so that tourist visits here can present business opportunities and open employment opportunities,” Minister Sandiaga concluded. [traveltext.id]
