THE construction of Borobudur Highland in Purworejo, Central Java, was accelerated to stimulate the community’s economy. It is hoped that this acceleration will stimulate the economy, raise people’s hopes and enthusiasm.
According to Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno at the Borobudur Highland Tourism Object on the border of Kulonprogo Regency with Purworejo Regency, said the acceleration was carried out, among others, by the construction of access to Borobudur Highland by the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing.
“The plan is that in August 2021, road construction will begin with a final completion target in December 2021. According to the Regent, our visit and holding the event here will inspire people to recover in the midst of the pandemic and the current economic challenges,” he said.
Sandiaga explained that in the short term, several activities such as ecotourism and sport tourism would be held. Then in the medium term it is planned that the construction of bobobox will be completed and hopefully by the end of the year it can be completed so that there will be additional lodging places here besides the homestay which is continuously being developed.
He added in this meeting there was a request from Purworejo Regency to use local names in the development of this tourist attraction. We have agreed to use these local names to protect the cultural and natural aspects of the De Lowano Glamping area.
But while asking to the atmosphere at Borobudur Highland, Sandiaga said it was extraordinary, there was a distinct nuance that was not found in other areas. The regent imagined that in the next 2-3 years people would be lining up to get the sensation of living in Borobudur Highland and becoming a tourist destination of choice, and after being here full of people, they will look to other places,” he concluded.
