INDONESIA’S Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy supports the integration of transportation and tourism systems to provide smart services that not only target local tourists, but also foreign tourists.
According to the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno at a webinar organized by the Intelligent Transport System (ITS) Indonesia community, Wednesday (6/30) said creating an integrated system between transportation and tourism is one of the main goals that I want to achieve in my period served as Minister of Tourism so that Indonesian tourism can be of high quality.
“If we don’t integrate the transportation system digitally, we won’t be able to create quality destinations and we won’t be able to get memorable, unforgetable, and magical experiences. We also cannot get sustainability from the environmental side,” said Sandiaga.
Sandiaga gave an example of one of the super priority tourist destinations that are currently being developed in terms of infrastructure to support interconnectivity and transportation systems, namely Lake Toba.
A total of IDR21 trillion was disbursed to build physical infrastructure to ensure that airports, ports, roads for vehicles, and roads for pedestrians are comfortable in the tourist area in order to provide a quality travel experience.
With a smart system that integrates tourism with transportation, of course, the infrastructure can be more useful for economic development in tourist areas.
For example, by bringing environmentally friendly transportation services through electric vehicles so that they can fulfill one of the values developed by the Ministry of Tourism for tourism in Indonesia today, such as sustainability for the environment.
Therefore, Minister Sandiaga hopes that collaboration with parties related to the digital transportation system to integrate transportation services with tourism can be seriously established so that they can provide smart services for tourists who come to tourist destinations in Indonesia.
“The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy cannot do it alone, there needs to be a partnership with private-owned enterprises, Government and Business Entity Cooperation, to provide support so that the transportation system can be good in every tourist destination in Indonesia,” said Sandiaga.
