THE significant decline in the number of tourists visits due to restrictions on activities amid the COVID-19 pandemic had a major impact on the tourism industry.
In the online discussion of the Association of Indonesian Public Relations Companies (APPRI) Connect which was held on Friday (7/2), it was stated that to help the recovery of the tourism sector, collaboration and creative steps were needed in exploring new tourism potential in Indonesia.
Bali is still one of Indonesia’s mainstays in the tourism sector. The Head of the Bali Tourism Office, I Putu Astawa on this occasion ensured that Bali had compiled various programs and important steps for the comfort and safety of tourists in various tourist destinations and public facilities. Including carrying out health protocols incorporated in the Trust, Trial, and Travel strategies.
I Putu Astawa said that the Bali Tourism Office continues to work together with the Indonesia National Army (TNI) and National Police, task force and pecalang to ensure all programs run smoothly.We need as much collaboration as possible so that to realize our dream of making tourism the backbone (of income) we can achieve.
Besides Bali, Yogyakarta is also Indonesia’s mainstay in the tourism sector. Secretary of the Regional Tourism Promotion Agency of the Special Region of Yogyakarta Ayu Cornellia said that the tourism industry really needs to prepare and improve in this pandemic era so that it can accept tourists according to health protocols.
“Tourism recovery programs need to be supported also by marketing communications that must be carried out by each tourist destination,” she noted
On the same occasion, the Co-founder of Ticket.com, Gaery Undarsa said that tourism trends had changed due to the pandemic. Tourists travel in search of experience, wanting to experience the culture of the local people. It’s time to reset, this is the time to readjust and continue to explore unique things to find new customers.
In responding to the current situation, Deputy for Strategic Policy at the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, R. Kurleni Ukar said that his party had made strategic steps in the form of 3G namely Gercep (Fast Movement), Geber (Joint Movement), and Gaspol (Work on all potential employment opportunities).
According to Kurleni Ukar said the 3G program is the government’s response to adapt to the situation while still complying with health protocols. The great work of all of us at this time is the restoration of health to overcome the sloping COVID-19 pandemic, after which tourism will be present as a concrete solution for economic recovery.
