HYATT are sharing the indulgent afternoon tea experiences with a local twist across selected Hyatt hotels and resorts in Asia.
In conjunction with the start of summer, over 85 Hyatt properties in Asia developed unique afternoon tea experiences in collaboration with local artisans and using seasonal ingredients, creatively presented to provide domestic diners with fresh culinary offerings. Guests are invited to enjoy a new way to savour tea, relax and unwind at a Hyatt property closer to home.
Hong Kong
The ever-popular afternoon tea set from Tiffin at Grand Hyatt Hong Kong receives a summer make-over by the talented chef duo – Executive Pastry Chef Smita and Chef de Cuisine Andre. Featuring seasonal fruits and ingredients such as mango, peach, berries and pineapple, the new tea set offers guests refreshing cool flavours to sweep away the heat.
The artisanal desserts such as Yuzu-Pineapple Cheesecake, Foie Gras Tartlet with Raspberry and Rum Raisin Scones are paired with either signature tea cocktails, mocktails or tea. This summer afternoon tea concept at Grand Hyatt Hong Kong is available until 20th September 2021.
Hyatt Centric Victoria Harbour Hong Kong’s Summer Escape Afternoon Tea will transport diners to different corners of the globe, drawing on Pastry Chef Kevin’s travel memories. From Vietnam with mini banh mi sandwiches and Thailand beach holidays with a dessert made with mango and banana to the coast of New England with lobster rolls and Venice Beach with chilled sweet “burgers” and mini shakes. Not to be missed is the Ethiopian Ice Drip coffee made with locally-roasted beans by Coffee Academics and diluted with fresh coconut water for a refreshing pick-me-up. Focusing on seasonal lychees, modern ceramic brands and ingredients from a local organic farm, Hyatt Regency Hong Kong, Sha Tin serves delicious treats and drinks dressed with organic edible flowers from an aquaponics farm in pastel tea ware by ceramic brand Loveramics. This summer creation of Pastry Chef Kelvin Lai is available until 31st July 2021.
Similarly, Hyatt Regency Hong Kong, Tsim Sha Tsui welcomes the summer with a brand-new Hong Kong tea set, serving an array of classic local cuisines that are enhanced with premium ingredients, such as crispy lobster wonton, pineapple bun and French ham, milk tea scones and condensed milk madeleine paired with the seasonal fruit desserts, served on hand-painted porcelain by Yuet Tung China Works. The afternoon tea set is available until 31st August 2021.
Southeast Asia
Alila Seminyak offers a healthy twist to the classic afternoon tea by pairing house-brewed kombucha with sweet and savoury canapes inspired by local ingredients. The journey starts with a zesty lemon ginger kombucha with ruby snapper tartare, followed by pina colada kombucha with pineapple beef rendang and apple cinnamon kombucha with apple crumble, with a sweet ending of strawberry fermented tea alongside strawberry cheesecake.
At Alila Ubud, guests can choose from a wide selection of local herbs and spices such as galangal, cumin, green pea flowers, and star anise to create their preferred infusion. The ingredients will be blended on the spot as guests relax by the cabana lounge overlooking magical views of the Ayung River Valley and the infinity pool. These are served with bite-sized sweets and savouries made with local herbs such as turmeric “dadar gulung” candied coconut and “lemper ayam” chicken with sticky rice and moringa.
Grand Hyatt Jakarta’s Batik-inspired afternoon tea is created in collaboration with renowned and time-honoured Batik house Iwan Tirta Private Collection. The dishes, such as Gado Gado, Rendang Bulan, Martabak Bebek and Pisang Goreng follow the principle of Batik: geometrical patterns and colourful repetitions with every shape designed to portray emotions.
Grand Hyatt Bali showcases homegrown brands HAS Chocolate, Tanamera Coffee and SAVIS Tea as well as Du Anyam, a social enterprise that produces wicker products to empower women, with its elegant three-course afternoon tea set. Available until 31st July 2021 at Veranda Lounge & Bar, guests can enjoy international and local flavours including burrata and tomato taco, duck and sweet potato curry puff, pineapple green tea cake, tangerine and coconut jelly with cashew nuts, and a refreshing fruit granita selection alongside views of the Nusa Dua coastline.
Celebrating Indonesia’s unique food culture, Alila Solo serves Indonesian lunch favourites such as Beef Rendang, Klepon and Dawet Solo in a light, refined and modern presentation, combined with elegant teas for an elevated social gathering.
The Alley on 25 team at Andaz Singapore brings a taste of the French Riviera with an afternoon tea inspired by St. Tropez. Tuck into classic dishes such as Bouillabaisse prepared with sustainably sourced seafood while the service team have curated a special playlist and placed beach inspired centerpieces on each table to create a casual coastal town ambiance.
The award-winning bartenders at Grand Hyatt Singapore offer free flow cocktails and mocktails to enjoy with a wholesome and delightful four-course sustainable feast including Yarra Valley Salmon Caviar with Crumpets, Roasted Roaring Forties Lamb Saddle with Ratatouille Vegetables and Champagne Truffles. The St. Tropez afternoon tea at Alley on 25 is available daily from 3 pm-5 pm and the four-course afternoon tea at 10 Scotts is available at 12.30 pm and 3.30 pm daily.
A delightful assortment of desserts and savories from locally sourced ingredients are presented at Park Hyatt Bangkok in the ocean-themed afternoon tea. Inspired by summer vacations along the Atlantic coast of France, the menu includes Mango Cheesecake, Banana Almond Cake, Sustainable Atlantic Scallop, Avruga Caviar, Roasted Coconut and refreshing mocktails.
