THE INDONESIAN Hotel and Restaurant Association (PHRI) suggested that the rules and discourse on COVID-19 vaccine certificates as a condition for entering hotels and restaurants need to be reviewed.
According to the Secretary General of the Indonesian Hotel and Restaurant Association (PHRI), Maulana Yusran, Wednesday (8/4) revealed a number of reasons that made the PHRI request that the regulation be reviewed. One of them is because the implementation of COVID-19 vaccination is still not optimal in a number of areas.
“Currently, vaccine centers are not permanent or still moving, so if we want a vaccine, we have to look for it first. Then, the availability of vaccines is also still limited,” said Maulana.
In addition, he continued, there are still some people who have not received the vaccine due to various factors. For example, children who are not yet 12 years old are currently not allowed to inject vaccines.
Maulana also stated that at this time the hotel and restaurant sector was in a state of shock, so that if this was implemented it would actually pose a risk that would put pressure on business players as well as the government.
“From the government’s perspective, employment is reduced and the unemployment rate will be high. From the business side, they will also find it difficult to survive. He also mentioned the same thing for food stalls and restaurants during the Implementation of Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) Level 3 and 4,” Maulana pointed out.
Previously, the DKI Provincial Government had issued Kadisparekraf Decree Number 495 of 2021 concerning the Extension of PPKM Level 4 in the Tourism Business Sector. The regulation states that workers and visitors at hotels and guest houses, as well as restaurants, restaurants, cafes, and salons are required to show a COVID-19 vaccine certificate. This rule has been in effect from 26 July to 2 August 2021.
Previously, on Tuesday (3/8) the central government decided to extend PPKM levels 4, 3, and 2 from August 2 to 9, 2021 in a number of areas of Java and Bali through Minister of Home Affairs No. 27 of 2021. In areas that implement PPKM Level 4, food stalls allowed to open with a maximum meal time of 20 minutes. While PPKM Level 3 and 2 a maximum of 30 minutes to eat on the spot.
On the other hand, restaurants are only allowed to receive delivery-takeaway services at PPKM Level 4 and 3. Except for PPKM Level 2, restaurants are allowed to dine-in with a maximum of 50% visitors. [antaranews/photo special]
