MINISTRY RELEASES THE LATEST REGULATIONS FOR INT’L FLIGHTS & TRAVEL

INDONESIA’S Ministry of Transportation has released the latest circular on International Travel by Air Transportation During the COVID-19 Pandemic through Circular Letter Number SE 63 of 2021, which is effective from August 11, 2021.

According to the Director General of Civil Aviation at the Ministry of Transportation, Novie Riyanto, in a written statement, Wednesday (8/11) said Indonesian citizens from abroad were allowed to enter Indonesia while still following strict health protocols. Meanwhile, the prohibition on entering Indonesian territory, either directly or in transit in foreign countries, will still apply to international travelers with the status of Foreign Citizens, except those who meet the criteria in accordance with the provisions of the Minister of Law and Human Rights Number 27 of 2021, the bilateral Travel Corridor Arrangement agreement scheme and or obtain special permission in writing from the Ministry/Institutions.

“All international travelers, both Indonesian citizens and foreigners, must follow the provisions/requirements such as showing a card or certificate (physical or digital) that has received the full dose of COVID-19 vaccine,” he said.

He explained, if you have not received a vaccine abroad, you will be vaccinated at a quarantine place upon arrival in Indonesia, after a second RT-PCR examination with a negative result is carried out. For foreigners who are 12-17 years old, holders of diplomatic residence permits and official residence permits, Kitas holders, Kitap holders, and foreigners who are already in Indonesia by traveling domestically or internationally, are required to vaccinate through a program or mutual cooperation scheme in accordance with the laws and regulations. -invitation.

The obligation to show a COVID-19 vaccination card is excluded for: (a). Foreigners who hold diplomatic visas and service visas related to official/state visits of foreign officials at ministerial level and above and foreigners who enter Indonesia with the Travel Corridor Arrengement scheme, (b). Foreigners who have not vaccinated and intend to travel domestically and continue with the aim of taking international flights out of the territory of the Republic of Indonesia, are allowed not to show their COVID-19 vaccination card/certificate as long as they do not leave the airport area during transit waiting for international flights to be followed, (c). International travelers under 18 years of age. (d). International travelers with special health conditions are required to attach a doctor’s certificate from the government hospital of the country of departure stating that the person concerned has not and/or is unable to take part in the COVID-19 vaccination.

“I urge prospective passengers to adjust the latest requirements for international travel by reading in full Circular Letter Number 63 of 2021, so that when the document checks are carried out by officers at the airport, they are complete,” he underlined.

Novie Riyanto concluded that in line with the Circular of the COVID-19 Handling Task Force Number 18 of 2021, these circular aims to prevent an increase in COVID-19 transmission, including the new SARS-CoV-2 virus variant which has mutated into the Alpha variant, Beta variant, Delta variant, and Gamma variants, as well as the potential for the development of other new variants of the SARS-CoV-2 virus.
