PRESIDENT AWARDED MAHAPUTERA ADIPRADANA STAR TO I GEDE ARDIKA

PRESIDENT of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, gave the Republic of Indonesia Signs of Honor to a number of figures who are considered to have contributed to the country. The honors given include the Mahaputra Adipradana Star, Paramadharma Culture Star and Service Star.

One of the honors of Bintang Mahaputera Adipradana was given to the late I Gede Ardika, Minister of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Indonesia. I Gede Ardika was the Minister of Culture and Tourism in two cabinets, namely the National Unity Cabinet under President Abdurrahman Wahid from 2000 to 2001 and the Gotong Royong Cabinet under President Megawati Soekarnoputri from 2001 to 2004.

The awarding of the Mahaputera Adipradana Star was given by President Joko Widodo, Thursday (8/12) at the State Palace in Jakarta. The awarding of the Honors was in a series of commemorations of the 76th Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia.

The Honorary Star Mahaputera Adipradana is given to someone who has made extraordinary contributions in various fields that are beneficial for the progress, welfare, and prosperity of the nation and state; his dedication and sacrifice in the fields of social, political, economic, legal, cultural, scientific, technological, and several other fields of great benefit to the nation and state; dharmabakti and services are widely recognized at the national and international levels.

The Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno, appreciated the awarding of the Mahaputera Adipradana Star of Honor from President Joko Widodo to the late I Gede Ardika.

I Gede Ardika said that during his lifetime, Minister Sandiaga had established a solid foundation in the development of national tourism which is closely related to cultural treasures and natural wealth. The man who was born in Singaraja, Bali, February 15, 1945, has a broad view of sustainable tourism in national development practices to make Indonesia a quality tourism destination.

“I Gede Ardika is also one of the pioneers in developing village tourism in Indonesia,” said Sandiaga Uno in his statement, Thursday (8/12).

I Gede Ardika’s many achievements and hard work were sparked during his lifetime to advance the tourism sector and the creative economy in the country.

“He came up with the idea of ​​village-based tourism and tourism villages that are developing a lot. That is a legacy that he also presented at the UNWTO (United Nations of World Tourism Organization) general assembly in Santiago, Chile in 1999. This tourist village is also our flagship program in 1999 right now,” he said.

In addition, the late I Gede Ardika also contributed greatly to the name of Indonesian tourism and culture in the international arena, including being a member of the World Committee of Tourism Ethics.

He also invited the entire community, especially stakeholders in the tourism and creative economy sectors to use the achievements made by I Gede Ardika as an encouragement to rise from the pandemic. As well as making the momentum for the award from the President to strengthen collaboration as well as adaptation and innovation.
