Meanwhile, the Minister of Investment/Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM), Bahlil Lahadalia said that the memorandum of understanding was intended to determine the priority scale of investment in tourism areas.

“With the signed MoU, we will form a small team to make a priority scale so that it directly touches on which area first, so that it can be immediately measured. We know that our tourism potential is the greatest, and if we beat all of them, it will take five years for the Minister to come down,” Bahlil stated.

With the COVID-19 pandemic, Bahlil emphasized that one of the sectors that was most depressed was the tourism sector and the creative economy. On the investment side, he said the realization of investment in the tourism sector declined sharply during the pandemic.

“Therefore, from this collaboration, one of the priorities is to encourage the improvement of tourism infrastructure during the COVID-19 pandemic. Even so, I did not specify what sectors or sub-sectors of tourism that I would like to encourage improvement,” he pointed out.

He explained, if asked which sector, nature tourism is also good. [Tourism] by the beach is also good. I think we will discuss with the Minister of Tourism which will be the priority. We will follow the policy direction from the Minister of Tourism for priority scale. We only play a role in supporting the priority scale,” Bahlil concluded. [traveltext.id]
