THE INDONESIA’S Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy hopes that the XX/2021 National Sports Week (PON) in Papua can revive the economic and tourism sectors, especially in the region.
According to the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno said that organizing sports events also encourages the growth of sports tourism in Indonesia. Papua Province is one of the priorities in the development of tourist destinations, especially in efforts to increase 3A, namely attractions, amenities, and accessibility.
“Therefore, the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy together with other stakeholders seeks to increase the capacity of management and tourism and creative economy actors through several programs, including community empowerment and promotion of Papuan tourism in all media owned by the Tourism Ministry,” he said.
He explained that this was done so that the Papua Province could be known and visited by foreign tourists and of course quality Nusantara tourists in order to improve the welfare of the people around the tourist attraction.
“The Ministry of Tourism is committed to the success of the implementation of PON XX/2021 Papua through support in the form of the Lake Sentani Festival, the Cendrawasih Song Concert, Numbai Creative Festival, and the Noken Festival,” Sandiaga remarked.
The promotion of PON XX is also carried out through the Tourism’s Ministry owned and paid media, as well as holding tourism and creative human resource training through the craft sub-sector as well as online English.
“I want to convey that the conditions we are currently facing are not easy. We need active participation from all parties in the recovery of tourism and the creative economy, one of which is through the implementation of the PON XX Papua,” Sandiaga concluded. [antaranews/photo special]
