HEALTH PROTOCOLS AND VACCINATIONS ARE KEY TO RECOVERY OF TOURISM SECTOR

THE MINISTER of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno had the opportunity to attend the Orientation Week for the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassadors Candidate (LBBP), at the Nusantara Room, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Central Jakarta, Tuesday (9/7).

This orientation week aims to provide briefing for 33 LBBP RI Ambassador candidates regarding the Indonesian government’s policies in supporting the strengthening and improvement of Indonesia’s diplomacy. These Ambassador candidates will be placed in various countries such as Spain, France, Colombia, and so on.

On that occasion, Sandiaga explained various tourism strategies and the creative economy that can be carried out after the COVID-19 pandemic. One of them is the acceleration of vaccination and the application of health protocols based on Cleanliness, Health, Safety and Environmental Sustainability (CHSE).

“The key to providing a sense of security and comfort for tourists as well as the revival of the tourism and creative sector is the vaccination program and health protocols. This is what we will continue to do. So when the time comes, we are ready to welcome tourists,” he said.

Even though globally the condition of the tourism sector is in a slump due to the pandemic. It can be seen from data compiled by the World Travel & Tourism Council that around 174.4 million workers in this sector lost their jobs throughout 2020. However, Minister Sandiaga remains optimistic that this sector will recover.

“In addition to vaccinations and health protocols, we have also prepared five strategic steps to encourage the recovery of the creative economy and tourism. First, increasing the capacity of human resources based on quality and environmental sustainability. This is what we are preparing in a 360-degree manner,” he stated.

Second, revitalizing tourism destinations and infrastructure. Third, increasing business resilience and competitiveness, through the provision of incentives, access to capital, business certification, and CHSE. Fourth, product and service innovation with higher quality and local wisdom. And fifth, market recovery and expansion, through the BeliKreatifLokal program, Proud to travel #DiIndonesiaAja, as well as marketing creative and creative products.

This concrete step will not run optimally if it is not supported by innovation, adaptation, and collaboration from various parties. For this reason, the active role of stakeholders, in this case the candidates for LBBP Ambassadors, is very necessary, so that the economy can recover quickly and create jobs.

“Congratulations and success to our ambassador candidates. And hopefully we can strengthen collaboration in the future for Indonesia’s economic progress,” he concluded. [traveltext.id]
