SOETTA AIRPORT RECORDS INCREASE IN INT’L ROUTE PASSENGER MOVEMENT

THE MOVEMENT of passengers on international routes at Soekarno-Hatta (Soetta) Airport, Tangerang has increased. This is because there is an influence from the 2021 Christmas and 2022 New Year holiday periods.

The Commander of the Air Task Force for the COVID-19 Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Colonel Sus Agus Listiyono, said the data obtained by his party from December 1 to December 14 showed that the movement of international passengers had reached 3,000.

“If the data from December 1 to December 14, 2021 is currently experiencing an increase, it is already above 3 thousand, it has even reached 4 thousand,” he said, Thursday (12/16)

He continued, the increase was during holidays or weekends. As on December 5, 2021, there were 4,003 people. Then, on December 12, 2021, there were 4,248 people. For the movement of the aircraft, it is about 25 to 27 flights per day.

Whereas previously, passengers on international routes at Soetta Airport were recorded at under 3 thousand people. “Previously it was under 3,000 or between 2,000-3,000 passengers per day,” he said.

That figure turned out to be the movement of passengers coming from abroad. He explained that passengers coming from abroad were still dominated by Indonesian citizens (WNI).

Meanwhile, the majority of foreign nationals (WNA) come from Singapore, Turkey and Malaysia. “They (foreigners) from Singapore and Turkey and Malaysia, that’s a lot. 40% foreigners, 60% Indonesians,” he remarked.

Then, for the departure of Indonesian citizens abroad, there was also an increase, although not significant. Therefore, the public is advised to postpone traveling abroad to prevent transmission of the new variant of COVID-19 B.1.1.529 or Omicron.

“There is an increase (departures) therefore we anticipate his return. We ask the public if there is no urgent interest to go abroad to be detained first. If we do not respond to this, a new variant will arise,” he concluded. [antaranews/photo special]
