OMICRON CASE RISES, NO DIRECTIONS FOR CLOSURE OF TOURIST ATTRACTIONS

MINISTER of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno said there had been no directives regarding the plan to close tourist attractions amid the increase in cases of the Omicron variant of the COVID-19 variant.

To that end, the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy continues to encourage managers and the tourism industry to improve health protocols.

“It is the same with the Peduli Protect application, which continues to be used,” said Sandiaga in a statement at the Weekly Press Briefing, Jakarta, Monday (1/31).

Sandiaga stated that his party ensures that compliance with the prokes will be improved and expand the range of vaccinations as well as testing and tracing in terms of numbers and areas.

The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy also continues to encourage active support from various parties who continue to collaborate with the ministry in an effort to increase booster vaccinations for tourism and creative economy players.

For example, the Central Lombok COVID-19 Task Force, West Nusa Tenggara, provided boosters to hotel workers and tourism actors in the Mandalika Special Economic Zone (SEZ).

“The booster vaccination (in Central Lombok) is part of the preparation for the 2022 MotoGP in Mandalika,” he said.

In addition, the Riau Islands regional government continues to hold boosters for creative tourism players as an effort to increase the confidence of tourists who come to Batam. Based on the submissions from epidemiologists, it was stated that Indonesia would experience a significant increase in COVID-19 cases from February to early March 2022.

“We should be careful and vigilant even though there is no need to panic,” said Sandiaga.

Minister Sandiaga also stated that activities in the creative and creative sector will be adjusted to the rules for the Implementation of Restrictions on Community Activities (PPKM).

Currently, his party is waiting for the latest regulations regarding the PPKM level because from the new assessment, 14 days will be given for data adjustment due to the additional data weighting related to vaccination of the elderly and children. [traveltext.id]
