AUSTRALIA plans to welcome foreign tourists before Easter or the resurrection of Jesus Christ, which this year will fall in April 2022, Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison told 4CA radio.
“I can’t tell you exactly when because we’re monitoring how the Omicron (variant) hits the eastern states. I want us to get (to the opening of international borders) very soon – of course before Easter, long before Easter,” Morrison said, quoted from news.com.au, recently.
Morrisson added that the re-admission of foreign tourists will continue to refer to advice from medical experts.
As quoted by travelandleisure.com, Thursday (2/03), currently only Australian citizens, permanent residents and their families are allowed to enter the country. Previously, the Australian government planned to open the border for foreign nationals in December 2021. However, the plan was postponed due to the Omicron variant. [kompas.com/photo special]
