INDONESIA’S Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno, held a meeting with the Indonesian Ambassador to the People’s Republic of China, Djauhari Oratmangun, at the Sapta Pesona Building, Jakarta, Monday (3/28) during the meeting the two discussed to reopen opportunities or potential for cooperation in tourism and creative economy.
The cooperation opportunities include sharing best practices carried out by the two countries in dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic, sharing potential investors to invest in Indonesia, especially in five super priority destinations and in eight Special Economic Zones in Indonesia, as well as increasing the presence of Indonesian restaurants in Beijing.
“Later, we will try to map it out with the ranks at the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy for steps we can take so that before they open, how do we anticipate promotion, activation, and also in terms of investment activities,” said Sandiaga.
As is known, China is implementing the Zero COVID-19 Policy to deal with the pandemic in its country. Chinese people have not been able to travel abroad, because their border gate has not been opened.
In addition, Menparekraf initiated cooperation in the form of joint promotions in Mandarin, so that it is not only related to Chinese New Year greetings, but also tourism promotion materials and other creative economies. Thus, the reach of the Chinese market can be wider and more targeted.
“I am very happy to do promotions using Mandarin. Because I think this is the most effective marketing strategy to reach them (Chinese tourists),” he stated.
Minister Sandiaga also encouraged the Indonesian Ambassador to China to participate in supporting the achievement of tourist segmentation that is more directed towards quality tourism and sustainable tourism. The pandemic has certainly changed the behavior of tourists, they are really looking for safe and comfortable tourist destinations.
“I hope a lot, through this collaboration, it can lead to ecotourism, tourist villages, to marine tourism because they like foreign tourists,” he remarked.
On that occasion, the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy asked for the support of the PRC Government in the success of international activities, namely World Tourism Day 2022 and also the G20, because this year Indonesia was lined up as the host.
“I hereby support tourists from China as well as investors and businessmen to cooperate with Indonesia in reopening business opportunities and employment opportunities for the revival of our economy. I invite the Ambassador and of course under the leadership of the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Jokowi, to collaborate in developing a new economic order,” he noted.
Meanwhile, the Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to the People’s Republic of China, Djauhari Oratmangun, expressed his gratitude for being invited to discuss the potential for collaboration. He also agreed with the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy that it is not only the number that is the focus of our cooperation but the quality of the tourists visiting Indonesia.
“Thank you, Tourism Minister, I am very happy to be here, hopefully with collaboration and cooperation, we can promote the tourism economy and the Indonesian creative industry in China,” he concluded. [traveltext.id]
