SINGAPORE is gearing up to welcome Indonesian tourists with a tourism recovery campaign titled “SingapoReimagine”, which aims to revive visitors’ dreams through a new and innovative experience in Singapore.
The Singapore Tourism Board (STB) partnered with lifestyle app Traveloka and the Trans Digital Media group through the signing of two Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) marking the start of launching a joint tactical campaign within a year.
“With the strong rebound in the Indonesian market in the last few months since quarantine-free travel and testing for tourists who have been fully vaccinated, we are reinforcing our efforts in the SingapoReimagine tourism recovery campaign to maintain Singapore as a premier destination for Indonesians,” said Executive Director Southeast Asia of Singapore Tourism Board John Conceicao.
Singapore experienced an increase in the number of tourist arrivals by 252% year on year in the first quarter of 2022. This is supported by an increase in international tourist arrivals from month to month in a row from January to April 2022.
There were approximately 294,300 visitors in April, an increase from 121,200 in March, although volume is still significantly lower than the 1.6 million visitors recorded in April 2019, before the pandemic.
Indonesia managed to overtake India as the largest source of arrivals with 58,270 visitors in April 2022, up from 13,620 from the previous month. Singapore hopes to welcome more visitors from May as a result of transitioning the recovery phase to VTF from 1 April 2022.
The partnership with Traveloka is expected to encourage wider public interest and provide an easier booking experience for various holiday offers to Singapore in five markets in Southeast Asia, namely Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines and Vietnam.
Fun lovers can visit various new attractions such as SkyHelix Sentosa, Singapore’s highest open-air panoramic ride, and the Museum of Ice Cream.
Meanwhile, other destinations have been upgraded to keep visitors excited, including the Marvel Universe area at Madame Tussauds Singapore, the Tropical Montance Orchidetum at the National Orchid Garden and the Ice Hotel Galley in Snow City, which is Singapore’s first ice hotel experience.
The calendar of events in Singapore will also captivate visitors with the Wellness Festival Singapore to be held for the first time in June, the Singapore Food Festival in Q3/2022 and the highly anticipated F1 Singapore Grand Prix 2022 at the end of September.
Tourists can also look forward to new attractions that will be opening soon such as the Slingshot, Asia’s tallest extreme swing ride and an integrated facility where visitors can skate, surf, ski and snowboard at Trifecta in 2023. [photo special]
