INDONESIA is currently chair of the ASEAN tourism forum. In accordance with ASEAN tradition, Indonesia’s chairmanship in the ASEAN tourism forum will end by hosting the 2023 ASEAN Tourism Forum (ATF) with the theme “ASEAN: A Journey to Wonderful Destinations”.
For this reason, the Tourism and Creative Economy Ministry is reviewing the readiness of the ASEAN Tourism Forum (ATF) 2023 which will be held in Yogyakarta, on 2-5 February 2023 to see directly the readiness and infrastructure in the Jogja Expo Center as the implementation of the ATF TRAVEX (Travel Exchange) agenda. and Prambanan Temple as the location for the Opening Ceremony of the ASEAN Tourism Forum 2023.
According to the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno, said earlier we have seen the infrastructure of the Jogja Expo Center which is being renovated. The toilets are good, and hopefully the whole can be completed as scheduled.
“Yogyakarta has extraordinary infrastructure. Such as the existence of Yogyakarta International Airport, the availability of various hotels, and having superior destinations and Borobudur super priority destinations. I hope that the target number of foreign tourists or foreign tourists, which will reach 7.4 million in 2023, can be supported by the successful implementation of ATF 2023,” he said.
And of course, he continued, the hope is to be able to bring in foreign tourists, and also buy Indonesian creative economy products. We also hope that the target of visiting 7.4 million foreign tourists in 2023 will start with the success of ATF.
Sandiaga explained that ATF 2023 has quite a big meaning because it will be the opening event for ASEAN inter-ministerial meetings during Indonesia’s time as chairman of ASEAN in all sectors in 2023 which carries the theme ASEAN: Epicentrum of Growth.
The momentum of Indonesia’s chairmanship in ASEAN in 2023 is expected to generate new initiatives in overcoming the main challenges that are of concern to the region and the world.
“And this is the first institutional ministry that will welcome Indonesia’s chairmanship at ASEAN 2023. Therefore, we ask the central and regional governments in Yogyakarta as well as players in the tourism industry to attend and support the success of ATF 2023,” Sandiaga remarked.
ATF 2023 will be filled with several supporting programs such as the Opening Ceremony in the open theater area of Prambanan Temple; Royal Dinner at Yogyakarta Palace, Post Tour for Meeting Delegates with the concept of Trail of Civilization and the theme of Wellness Tourism; Bilateral Meetings between countries and international organizations; ASEAN NTOs Media Briefing; ASEAN Awarding Ceremony; ASEAN Tourism Ministers Press Conference; as well as the Handover Ceremony from Indonesia to Laos PDR.
