THE MINISTRY of Tourism and Creative Economy reviewed the readiness of locations and supporting infrastructure ahead of the ASEAN Summit in Labuan Bajo, West Manggarai Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).
Deputy Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Angela Tanoesoedibjo on Tuesday (04/18), 2023 and Wednesday (04/19), 2023 while reviewing several locations around Labuan Bajo. Those are Komodo International Airport, Marina and Waterfront area in Ujung Village, Meruorah Komodo Labuan Bajo Resort and Creative Hub Labuan Bajo in Puncak Waringin, Public Electric Vehicle Charging Station (SPKLU) at the West Manggarai Regent’s Office, Field Office of Cipta Karya, SDA, and Spatial Planning of West Manggarai Regency, and Golo Mori area.
In addition to reviewing the readiness of infrastructure in Labuan Bajo with Deputy Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) II Kartika Wirjoatmodjo, Angela also participated in a coordination meeting for the preparation of the ASEAN Summit at Meruorah Komodo Labuan Bajo Resort.
Angela said the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy is ready to fully support the implementation of the ASEAN Summit on May 9-11 by presenting a people’s party event involving local Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) players.
“We want the community to feel involved in this activity. We want to present a side event that is not only enjoyed by delegates but also the local community. The active involvement of the community is very important for the success of the ASEAN Summit in Labuan Bajo, especially in promoting MSME products,” Angela said.
The involvement of local MSME players, continued Angela, is expected to drive the economy of the people in Labuan Bajo.
“Thus, the people of Labuan Bajo can feel the positive impact of the 2023 ASEAN Summit,” Angela said.
Meanwhile, the Director of the Labuan Bajo Flores Authority (BPOLBF), Shana Fathina, added that the supporting events are planned to be held on May 7-11 by involving local artists. Shana hopes that these events can provide visitors with the experience of traveling in Labuan Bajo and spread information about ASEAN to the public.
