INDONESIA has broken the world record for the biggest angklung performance and was recorded in the Guinness World Records (GWR), which was held at the Bung Karno Main Stadium, Jakarta, Saturday night (8/05), 2023.
“Indonesia has reached the Guinness World Records with 15,110 people,” said official GWR assessor Sonia.
The world world record certificate was handed over to Mrs. Tri Tito Karnavian represented the Solidarity Action Organization for the Advanced Indonesian Cabinet Era (OASE KIM) as the event organizer. The certificate was then handed over to First Lady Iriana Joko Widodo.
Thousands of angklung players played the song Berkibarlah Benderaku, composed by Saridjah Niung or Ibu Sud, and the international song Wind of Change, popularized by the Rock Band Scorpions. The breaking of the world record was also attended by President Joko Widodo along with Vice President Ma’ruf Amin and several ministers from the Onward Indonesia Cabinet.
This world record broke the previous record held by the Indonesian Embassy for the United States and the Investment Cooperation Agency (BKPM) in Washington DC in 2011. A total of 5,182 people from various nations managed to set a world record at the event. [antaranews]
