THE MINISTRY of Tourism and Creative Economy revealed that one of the keys to sustainable development in various regions in Indonesia is to strengthen the creative economic ecosystem.
According to Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno, in the “Freeside Chat Session on Global Leadership Summit 2024” at the National Gallery Singapore, Friday (03/8), 2024, said I saw the creative economy sector as an important sector apart from the extractive economy. Advancing the creative economy is the same as developing the country as a whole because the impact created is very significant.
“This includes encouraging the creation of new jobs for the community, increasing income and exports, and becoming a medium for promoting Indonesia’s cultural diversity through the products presented,” said Sandiaga.
Data in 2023 shows that exports of Indonesia’s creative economy products amounted to US$24.32 billion and the added value of the creative economy reached IDR1,414 trillion or the equivalent of US$94 billion. This figure is influenced by the country’s three leading creative economy subsectors, namely culinary, fashion and crafts.
To strengthen creative economy infrastructure and mitigate the impact of the global economic slowdown, the Indonesian government through the Ministry of Tourism is making a number of efforts, including increasing access to financing, improving IP (Intellectual Property) management, and creating and expanding creative economy networks.
Apart from that, there is great hope for Indonesia’s future, namely the presence of a democracy bonus which is dominated by the millennial and Z generations. This generation must be optimized through reskilling, upskilling and new skilling programs so that they are able to play a strategic role as contributors to economic progress.
“A generation that likes to explore creative ideas and has a competitive spirit in facing any challenge must be part of sustainable development,” Sandiaga stated.
Opportunities that also need to be targeted are the use of artificial intelligence (AI) and technology in the creative industries. According to Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga, AI can optimize the design process in various fields, leading to faster production times and lower costs.
“And this is one of the biggest opportunities for the creative industry to grow in the next two years, to increase innovation and open up new creative possibilities,” he concluded. [traveltext.id]
