THE INDONESIAN Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy appreciates PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry for developing a pre-crossing rest area as well as a new tourist destination in the waterfront tourism destination, namely Bakauheni Harbor City (BHC).
“We appreciate ASDP for bringing new tourist attractions to South Lampung. This provides an alternative tourist destination. Moreover, Bakauheni is the starting point for tourists who want to go to Sumatra Island,” said Senior Expert Staff of the Tourism and Creative Economy Ministry, Nia Niscaya, in “The Weekly Press Briefing”, Monday (4/16), 2024.
The development of the BHC area is expected to have an impact on social and economic activities, especially in the Lampung area, which is supported by several potentials in the surrounding area.
Meanwhile, the President Director of PT. ASDP Indonesia Ferry, Ira Puspadewi, said that the development of BHC is in line with his company’s vision to be at the forefront of connecting communities and markets through integrated port crossing services and waterfront tourist destinations.
ASDP is committed to accelerating the development of waterfront tourist destinations. Ira acknowledged that the successfully built waterfront in Labuan Bajo, East Nusa Tenggara, was an inspiration for the development of similar destinations in other areas.
“How do we become agents of development? If Labuan Bajo develops better, it means that the state is here to become an economic generator,” said Ira.
Based on the success of waterfront development in Labuan Bajo, ASDP then initiated waterfront development in the port of South Lampung, which has become the largest economic source in the region.
“This cannot be separated from the support of the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy. Thanks to the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, this place (BHC) has become a PSN (National Strategic Project),” Ira remarked.
The progress of the first phase of development in the area of 160 hectares has reached almost 100%. The district is expected to be completed in September 2024. Among the facilities to be built are Krakatau Park, BSI Mosque, Siger Park Community and Cultural Center, Skybridge and a parking lot.
“It is estimated that the construction of Phase 1 will be fully completed in September. However, last year alone, when we held an event, 15 thousand people came to Bakauheni in one day. Meanwhile, this Eid saw more than 30 thousand people in five days. And the jobs we are creating are for about 1,000 people. This makes us very proud, because this is where the state is present again. “How can the economy develop and then the welfare of society will increase,” Ira concluded. [traveltext.id]
