THE LABUAN Bajo Flores Authority Implementing Agency (BPOLBF) will hold a groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of Parapuar Park as a new attraction and one of the alternative tourist destinations in Labuan Bajo, West Manggarai, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).
According to the Acting President Director of BPOLBF, Frans Teguh in ‘The Weekly Brief with Sandi Uno’ at Sapta Pesona Building, Central Jakarta, Monday (07/29) 2024, said the groundbreaking ceremony is planned to be held on August 8, 2024. We hope that with the presence of Parapuar (Taman) as one of the new areas and destinations, tourists will have more choices when traveling to Labuan Bajo and Flores NTT in general.
Frans said that Parapuar Park is very strategically located in the center of Labuan Bajo. Tourists need only five minutes from Komodo International Airport and seven minutes from the Marina Waterfront area.
“So, I think this is a strategic location that is easily accessible and is located at an altitude of about 238 meters above sea level. So, the view is very challenging, we can enjoy the sunset and sunrise,” he said.
Not only that, this park also carries the concept of nature tourism in the forest. So Parapuar Park can be an alternative tourist destination in Labuan Bajo before the trial implementation of periodic closures and open-close systems in Komodo National Park in 2025.
“We really pay attention to the conservation efforts of this national park and of course this is one of the contributions so that we can preserve nature and beauty, we try to maintain its ecosystem. We want to encourage Parapuar to become one of the alternative destinations that can be visited by prioritizing local wisdom,” Frans remarked.
On the same occasion, the Ministry’s Senior Expert Staff, Nia Niscaya, added that the development of Parapuar Park is expected to make Labuan Bajo one of the choices of tourist destinations in Indonesia besides Bali. Considering that Labuan Bajo has now become one of the preferred destinations for tourists, both domestic and foreign tourists to Indonesia.
“Based on data from the Global Distribution System (GDS), in 2024 there were 4,137,720 searches related to Labuan Bajo and indeed Labuan Bajo is a complementary destination in Indonesia besides Bali,” said Nia.
She said that in the period from January to July 2024, the search volume for Labuan Bajo was close to the previous year’s figures. In 2023, the search volume for Labuan Bajo during January-December was 4,899,240 searches. This year, the top 5 countries with the most searches related to Labuan Bajo were Singapore (285K), China (233K), Malaysia (231K), Hong Kong (103K) and Australia (66.2K).
“This shows that Labuan Bajo is increasingly sought after and in demand, we hope that with the presence of new attractions and the increase in direct flights to this area, it will further increase the number of tourist visits, which will ultimately increase the welfare of the community from tourism activities,” concluded Nia Niscaya.
