TRANSPORTATION Minister Budi Karya Sumadi said that improving the procurement and distribution of aviation fuel and imposing taxes on the aviation industry would be able to reduce the price of aviation fuel and airline tickets.
“In fact, there are several plans that can be implemented to reduce ticket prices, such as the policy on spare parts tax and VAT and multi-provider aviation fuel,” he said at the House of Representative (DPR-RI) Senayan Complex, Friday (09/20), 2024.
He explained that there are several regulations that need to be improved. If this can be fixed, then there will be a significant reduction in aviation fuel, which will also have an impact on reducing ticket prices.
Furthermore, Budi Karya said that the policy related to the spare parts tax has a double effect, such as reducing ticket prices and providing jobs. The discussion related to this tax, Budi said, has received approval from the Ministry of Finance.
“So, if the tax is imposed, then aircraft from Indonesia will be repaired abroad. Then regarding VAT, Budi said that if VAT can be eliminated, it will have an impact on other related taxes,” he affirmed.
He added, the second point is related to multi-provider avtur, Budi said providers other than Pertamina can sell avtur. This is also a recommendation from the KPPU. There is a KPPU recommendation that avtur must be multi-provider. So, others can also try avtur.
In previous Bisnis news, the government is preparing regulations that will make it easier for companies other than Pertamina to participate in the business of providing avtur aircraft fuel at domestic airports.
Based on the Secretary General of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Dadan Kusdiana said that based on the results of the coordination meeting at the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment, the government will implement a multi-provider avtur system to overcome expensive airline ticket prices.
