MINISTER WIDIYANTI PUTRI WARDHANA SETS INITIATIVE FOR THE NEXT 6 MONTHS

WIDIYANTI Putri Wardhana has been officially appointed as the Minister of Tourism for the period 2024-2029. The ministerial handover took place at the Soesilo Soedarman Hall, Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, Jakarta, on Monday (10/21), 2024.

In her remarks, Minister of Tourism Widiyanti Wardhana emphasized her commitment to continue the momentum of Indonesia’s tourism development. Indonesia is currently ranked 22nd out of 119 countries in the 2024 Travel & Tourism Development Index (TTDI Index).

“I am committed to maintaining this momentum so that the tourism sector continues to grow. In the future, there will be challenges in strengthening (Indonesia’s) tourism potential,” Widiyanti said.

Minister of Tourism Widiyanti then revealed the priority work programs that will be carried out in the next six months. The four programs are hearing aspirations for tourism transformation with related parties; Tourism 5.0 such as digital-based Calendar of Events marketing and AI travel assistance; and formulating a grand strategy for the use of the Indonesia Quality Tourism Fund to diversify domestic attractions and international scale events.

In addition, cooperation with world-class institutions for knowledge transfer will be designed to realize a world-class school of tourism excellence.

Minister Widiyanti said that the separation of tourism and creative industries still provides opportunities for synergy and close and continuous cooperation between the two ministries. I also invited the Ministry of Creative Economy to continue its synergy and cooperation with the Ministry of Tourism.

“Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky Harsya, let’s work together to advance the tourism and creative economy sectors because these two sectors have a common goal to enhance the potential of natural beauty, rich arts and culture, and the creative industry that we have to achieve the government’s target for the next 5 years,” said Widiyanti, who has 30 years of experience as a professional businesswoman and investor.

Widiyanti, who is also the Chairperson of the Teladan Utama Foundation, is optimistic that with a strong foundation and clear strategic steps, she will be able to accelerate the growth of the tourism sector and make it a driving force for an inclusive, sustainable and global economy.

“We can do it because Indonesia is ‘paradise on earth’. Finally, I hope that my presence in this ministry will be welcomed with open arms, and together we will lead the transformation of the tourism sector conventionally, transparently and with integrity,” Widiyanti concluded. [traveltext.id]
