ALTHOUGH it is currently focusing on adding international routes in Batam, Hang Nadim Airport has not forgotten to add domestic routes to other cities in Indonesia. The manager of Hang Nadim Airport, PT Bandara Internasional Batam (BIB), has already launched a new route to Lampung in June 2024.

“Now, PT BIB is exploring the opening of routes to Bengkulu, Banda Aceh and Silangit in North Sumatra. The route to Bengkulu will be opened in the near future. Meanwhile, Aceh and Silangit are being explored,” said PT BIB President Director Pikri Ilham Kurniansyah, Monday (11/04), 2024.

Pikri said that establishing connectivity to the island of Sumatra is an important step to support Batam as an aviation hub in western Indonesia.

“To Bengkulu, the plan is to use the airline Super Air Jet, where the flight schedule is twice a week, Monday and Friday,” he said.

In total, Hang Nadim Airport has opened domestic routes to about 20 cities in Indonesia. Routes in Sumatra that have been served by this airport include Medan, Padang, Pekanbaru, Palembang, Jambi, Pangkal Pinang, Natuna and Letung.

“While the pioneer routes will be opened to Pasir Pangaraian, Rengat and Singkep.
