PUSPA SENANDIKA FASHION SHOW STRENGTHENS RI’S FASHION ECOSYSTEM

DEPUTY Minister of Creative Economy, Irene Umar appreciated the holding of Puspa Senandika, an annual fashion show organized by Svarna by IKAT Indonesia in Jakarta, which she believes is increasingly able to strengthen the creative economy ecosystem and make it a new engine of economic growth in Indonesia (RI).

Deputy Minister of Creative Economy Irene Umar, while attending the Svarna by IKAT Indonesia event organized by Didiet Maulana with the theme “Puspa Senandika”, Friday (11/15) 2014 evening, invited the public to see more opportunities and potential for traditional Indonesian clothing such as batik and woven fabrics.

Since 2011, IKAT Indonesia has been consistently working to preserve original Indonesian textiles by establishing Svarna as a fashion brand that focuses on developing Indonesia’s cultural heritage through fashion.

“What can be done with a batik and woven fabric is extraordinary, as we have seen in this fashion show,” said Deputy Minister of Creative Economy Irene Umar.

World fashion trends in clothing can still be combined by being rooted in Indonesian traditions and culture to create a unique fashion work. This is an opportunity to put Indonesia on the international stage.

“The Indonesian fashion subsector through traditional clothing in the form of batik, woven and non-woven can not only be present at the national level, but can also be brought to the international level. So let’s put Indonesia on the world stage together,” said Deputy Minister of Creative Economy Irene Umar.

Irene also urged the public to continue to preserve Indonesian traditions and cultural heritage by continuing to wear traditional Indonesian clothing in the form of batik, woven and non-woven.

“Hopefully everyone can continue to wear batik and let’s wear woven clothes together,” she concluded. [traveltext.id]
