GARUDA INDONESIA WILL PLANS TO INCREASE THE NUMBER OF AIRCRAFT BY 2025

PT GARUDA Indonesia Tbk. President Director Wamildan Tsani Panjaitan has immediately prepared a business development strategy, including a plan to increase the number of aircraft by 2025.

He conveyed this after being appointed as the President Director of the state-owned airline at the Extraordinary General Meeting of Shareholders (EGMS) today, Friday (11/15), 2024.

“I aim to add a significant number of aircraft in 2025. I will announce the number later according to the ongoing process,” Wamildan said after the EGMS on Friday (11/15), 2024.

As one of Garuda Indonesia’s future business development plans, Wamildan is preparing steps to expand the network and improve service quality. This can be done by increasing aircraft capacity and adding domestic and national routes.

Regarding the addition of aircraft, Wamildan said his party had held a meeting with the Board of Commissioners.

“We have options to meet with the lessor [aircraft lessor] with good options. I can’t say what the additional amount is yet. I’ll see the terms,” Wamildan affirmed.

Meanwhile the previous president director of Garuda Indonesia, Irfan Setiaputra, said that by the end of this year the company would add four aircraft to welcome the Christmas and New Year holiday.

“We will add four aircraft. Before Christmas and New Year holiday, we are preparing ourselves,” Irfan told reporters after a public presentation on Monday (11/11), 2024.

He said the four planes that will be brought in will be leased from third parties. The four planes are being brought in from Lebanon and Australia.

“Maybe one will come this week. One from Lebanon and one from Alice Springs in Australia,” Irfan noted.

With the presence of the four aircraft, the number of aircraft operated by the issuer with the stock code GIAA has increased. It is recorded that the total number of aircraft operated by GIAA has reached 96 aircraft by October 2024.

Specifically, there are 56 aircraft operated by Garuda Indonesia Airlines and 40 aircraft operated by Citilink Airlines. [sources/photo special]
