THE MINISTRY of Tourism is collaborating with 18 tourism industry players to once again promote Indonesian (RI) tourism at the 2025 Travel Exchange (Travex) to be held in Johor Bahru, Malaysia from January 15 to 17, 2025.
According to the Deputy for Marketing of the Ministry of Tourism, Ni Made Ayu Marthini, in her statement on Wednesday (01/15), 2025 explained that as a business forum for tourism business players between ASEAN countries, Travex is a good opportunity for Indonesia to increase the variety of Indonesian tourism promotion abroad.
“This tourism exchange is expected to be a means to transfer knowledge or tourism updates that are beneficial for the progress of the tourism industry, as well as a space for tourism industry players to attract international markets, in this case the ASEAN market,” Made said.
The ASEAN market still has a lot of potential to be optimized. It is recorded that the number of tourist arrivals from ASEAN countries in the eleven months in 2024 reached 4,303,773 tourists. Seeing this number, Indonesia’s participation in the Travex ATF 2025 event is a strategic effort to realize the target of foreign tourist visits in 2025 of 14.6 million to 16 million visits.
Travex is one of the main agendas of the ASEAN Tourism Forum (ATF). Through Travex, participants consisting of ASEAN NTOs, ASEAN Tourism Industries, TA/TO, Airlines, Hoteliers, F&B Companies, Themed Attractions and others are given a meeting room in the concept of buyers with sellers through the PSA (Pre-Schedule Appointment) system.
In this Travex, the Ministry of Tourism facilitated the provision of the Wonderful Indonesia Pavilion with the theme Rumah Joglo, which was filled by 18 industry players from DMO, DMC, TA/TO and hotel or hospitality representatives representing Jakarta, Bali, East Nusa Tenggara, Riau Islands and West Java.
In addition to the business-to-business (B2B) session, the Wonderful Indonesia Pavilion offers a range of services that visitors can access, from tourism information services to mini surveys and questionnaires, as well as a variety of typical Indonesian coffee.
“We hope that the potential for business-to-business transactions at the Wonderful Indonesia Pavilion during Travex 2025 can reach IDR68 billion,” Made affirmed.
