IJEN CRATER NATURE PARK MANAGERS IMPLEMENT CASHLESS TICKET PAYMENTS

THE MANAGERS of the Ijen Crater Nature Tourism Park (TWA) have started to implement cashless ticket payments using the Indonesian Standard Quick Response Code (QRIS) application.

According to Head of the Conservation Section of BKSDA Region V Banyuwangi, Dwi Putro Sugiarto, said in Banyuwangi, East Java, on Saturday, explained that the implementation of QRIS entrance ticket payments at the Ijen Crater Nature Tourism Park, located between Banyuwangi and Bondowoso regencies, was to make it easier for tourists to buy tickets.

“So, the cashless payment of entrance tickets to Ijen Crater has been implemented since Friday (01/31), 2025, and before that, a trial of payment using QRIS had also been carried out,” he said.

Dwi Putro explained that the Ijen Crater Nature Park ticket payment was a directive from the ministry that ticket payments for all nature tourism destinations must be cashless through the QRIS application, which aims to make it easier for tourists at the counter.

In addition to facilitating transactions, he said, paying for nature tourism tickets through QRIS can also increase visitor confidence because it is more transparent, considering that the ticket money is recorded and transferred to the state treasury.

“Paying for nature tourism tickets has become an obligation, and officials no longer accept cash payments,” he also said.

Dwi Putro added that Ijen Crater TWA, known for its blue fire, is a popular nature tourism destination for local and foreign tourists, especially during the long holidays.

He said that during the long Isra Mikraj and Chinese New Year holidays in 2025, about 3,600 local and foreign tourists climbed to the top of Mount Ijen and enjoyed the natural scenery of the crater.

“During the long Isra Miraj and Chinese New Year holidays in 2025, the number of visitors to the Ijen crater reached thousands in a few days, compared to the usual 600 visitors during the weekend holidays,” Dwi Putro concluded. [antaranews]
