TOURISM MINISTRY PROMOTES INDONESIAN TOURISM AT ITB BERLIN 2025

IN a strategic effort to strengthen the promotion of Indonesian tourism in the European and global markets, Indonesia, through the Ministry of Tourism, is once again participating in the world’s largest tourism trade fair, the International Tourism Exchange (ITB) Berlin 2025. This prestigious event will be held from March 4 to 6, 2025 at the Berlin Expo Center, Messe Berlin, Germany.

Minister of Tourism Widiyanti Putri Wardhana directly led the Wonderful Indonesia delegation, this time with strategic cooperation from various pentahelix elements to strengthen Indonesia’s position as a leading tourism destination in the eyes of the world.

In her statement, Tuesday (4/3), 2025, Minister of Tourism Widiyanti said that at this year’s ITB Berlin, the Ministry of Tourism is focusing on tourism that offers in-depth, personal and authentic experiences for tourists during their visit to Indonesia, such as gastronomy, marine and wellness tourism.

“Tourists can engage in various activities of interest and interact directly with the culture, community, nature and local traditions in Indonesia,” she said.

Every year, various stakeholders in the tourism industry gather at ITB Berlin to showcase the various tourism attractions of each country. In the spirit of taking the tourism sector to a higher level, Indonesia is presenting the Wonderful Indonesia Pavilion at the event this year.

She explained that this year there were a total of 88 collaborators who joined the Wonderful Indonesia Pavilion with a composition of 4 Collaboration Partners. The Indonesian Tourism Promotion Alliance (APPI) with ARTOTEL Group, BCA with 4 co-exhibitors, White Tiger DMC with 5 co-exhibitors, and 50 other co-exhibitors who joined the Wonderful Indonesia Pavilion independently.

Widiyanti also added that the Wonderful Indonesia Pavilion at ITB 2025 will showcase the beauty of the province of North Sumatra. As one of the 5 Super Priority Tourism Destinations, North Sumatra has interesting tourist attractions to be promoted internationally, as well as cultural proximity to European tourists.

“North Sumatra is a rich and beautiful province with various tourist attractions such as Lake Toba, which we are proud of, the culture of the Batak tribe, and the aesthetic value of Ulos weaving, which I am sure has great appeal for tourists,” said Minister Widiyanti.

In addition, the Tourism Minister emphasized that Indonesia’s participation in ITB Berlin is an important moment for cooperation and synergy to achieve the sales mission goal of the Wonderful Indonesia Pavilion.

“With good cooperation, together we can make a greater and more sustainable contribution to the tourism sector for the development of Indonesia’s economy,” Widiyanti affirmed.

Meanwhile, the Deputy for Marketing at the Ministry of Tourism, Ni Made Ayu Marthini, explained that with the budget efficiency policy, the target for potential transactions for ITB Berlin 2025 was set at 300,000 pax and the foreign exchange target at IDR8 trillion.

Although this target is slightly lower than the previous year, which reached 330,000 pax, it is hoped that the results achieved can still significantly contribute to achieving the target of foreign tourist visits in 2025, which is 14 million to 16 million people.

“We are implementing all these programs to promote and maintain Indonesian tourist destinations in the international world. Although there is no B to C event as in previous years, it is hoped that industry players who participate in this event can sell 5 Super Priority Tourism Destinations, tour packages and special interest tour packages,” concluded Made.
