INTERNATIONAL PASSENGERS AT BALI’s NUGRAH RAI AIRPORT GROW BY 11%

THE MOVEMENT of international passengers at Ngurah Rai International Airport until February 2025 reached 2.25 million people or grew 11% year-on-year (YoY) when compared to the same period in 2024.

According to I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport General Manager, Ahmad Syaugi Shahab, explained that the highest international traffic is still dominated by Singapore with 384,654 passengers and 2,112 aircraft movements.

This is followed by Kuala Lumpur with 262,062 passengers and 1,719 flight movements. Meanwhile, Melbourne is the third most popular destination with 178,170 passengers. In terms of flight movements, Perth ranks third after Kuala Lumpur with 1,151 flights.

Meanwhile, the number of foreign nationals arriving and departing through I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport in January and February was recorded at 1,013,700 people and a total of 198 countries.

Based on the foreign international crossing data obtained from the Class I Special Immigration Office of TPI Ngurah Rai, the number of passengers holding Australian passports ranked first with 238,080 people or 23% of the total foreign tourists. This was followed by the People’s Republic of China with 103,528 passengers and India with 75,936 passengers.

“Compared with last year, international passenger traffic growth reached 11% and 7% for aircraft movement growth,” said Syaugi from a press release, Monday (03/17), 2025.

Meanwhile, domestic passengers up to February 2025 were recorded at 1.39 million or down 9% (YoY) when compared to the same period in 2024. The most popular domestic air traffic is the Jakarta’s Soekarmo-Hatta Airport destination with 697,891 passengers and 4,622 aircraft movements.

The second highest is the Surabaya route with 205,249 passengers and 1,274 flight movements, and the third highest is the Makassar route with 81,028 passengers and 567 flight movements. Based on the traffic up to February, Angkasa Pura is optimistic that the number of passengers will continue to move in a positive direction this year.

“Our target for 2025 is to serve 26.4 million passengers and we are currently preparing several additional flights, both domestic and international. We are optimistic that the addition of new routes can be a stimulus for passenger growth at I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport and, of course, for Bali’s tourism and economy,” Syaugi concluded.
