APPARENTLY, THAT JAKARTA HAS INTERESTING SHOPPING DESTINATIONS TO VISIT

THE MINISTRY of Tourism said that the city of Jakarta has a number of interesting shopping destinations for tourists to visit during the Eid holiday.

“So, in several areas, especially in Jakarta, of course there are many choices for tourists to ensure their visits to shopping places,” said the Deputy for Destination and Infrastructure Development of the Ministry of Tourism, Hariyanto, in a discussion with the media in Jakarta, Wednesday (03/26), 2025.

Hariyanto said that through the campaign launched by the Ministry of Tourism during the Eid holiday, namely #LebaranDiJakartaAja, the public can try an interesting shopping experience that offers local products and has strong characteristics of Indonesia.

Some of the destinations he recommends are shopping centers in Sarinah and Grand Indonesia, which have Alun-Alun Indonesia and sell a variety of interesting local products from clothes to delicious snacks.

“Then other places that we encourage are how tourism can showcase the potential of MSMEs. So actually, that is what is encouraged because it is not only enjoy shopping, but we also make sure that the economic movement of business actors can grow,” Hariyanto affirmed.

He assessed that the relatively long Eid holiday period this year can also be used as an opportunity for business actors to increase their income because of the potential for quite large tourist movements.

Based on projections from the Ministry of Transportation, around 146.48 million people or more than 52% of Indonesia’s total population will travel during the Eid holiday period in 2025. In addition to the #LebaranDiJakartaAja campaign, he said the Ministry of Tourism is also promoting interest in traveling to Indonesia and shopping for local products through the Bangga Berwisata di Indonesia (BBWI) program.

Earlier, Tourism Minister Widiyanti Putri Wardhana said the ministry is trying to showcase the beauty of Jakarta through a campaign called #LebaranDiJakartaAja so that more tourists, both local and foreign, would be interested in exploring existing tourist destinations.

“Why are we campaigning, because of course Jakarta is also a very beautiful destination. We want to promote Jakarta so that tourists from outside the nearest areas can come,” she said in Jakarta, Wednesday (03/19), 2025.

The campaign was not only made because of the declining purchasing power of the community or because of the declining hotel occupancy.

However, Jakarta is one of the cities that is no less competitive than other cities. Its beauty has its own charm and can be seen from the many interesting tourist destinations such as museums that store the stories of the Indonesian nation, galleries, shopping spots to restaurants that offer a variety of culinary menus to taste.

“Through the #LebaranDiJakartaAja campaign, the Ministry of Tourism aims to invite people who live outside Jakarta to travel to the capital,” she concluded. [antaranews/photo special]
