EVA AIR has officially added six A350-1000 widebodies and three A321neo single aisle aircraft to its fleet. This order is a continuation of the commitment announced last March and further strengthens the Taiwanese carrier’s position on the global aviation map.
With this addition, EVA Air’s total active orders now stand at 24 A350-1000s and 18 A321neos. The move is seen as part of a sustainable fleet and network expansion strategy.
“The addition of these aircraft underlines our commitment to sustainability and a superior travel experience. The A350-1000 and A321neo offer exceptional efficiency and passenger comfort,” said Clay Sun, President of EVA Air, in a press release on Monday (04/7).
Meanwhile, Airbus EVP Sales, Benoît de Saint-Exupéry, said this new order demonstrates EVA Air’s confidence in the performance of Airbus’ two newest aircraft lines. “We are ready to support the integration of these aircraft into EVA Air’s fleet for their long-term success,” said Benoît.
The A350-1000 is today’s most modern wide-body aircraft, capable of flying up to 18,000 km non-stop.
Powered by the latest generation of Rolls-Royce engines, the A350 is able to save up to 25% fuel compared to its predecessor and is compatible to fly with 50% Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF). Airbus aims for all its aircraft to be 100% SAF compliant by 2030.
On the other hand, the A321neo, part of the A320neo family, offers up to 20% fuel efficiency and has received more than 6,800 orders since its launch in 2016. It dominates the narrow-body market with a share of more than 80%.
This addition to the fleet also has the potential to strengthen EVA Air’s connectivity to the Southeast Asia region, including Indonesia, which is one of its strategic markets. [kompas.com/photo special]
