SCOOT TO OPEN NEW FLIGHTS TO MEDAN AND LABUAN BAJO IN OCTOBER, 2025

THIS YEAR, Singapore Airlines’ low-cost subsidiary Scoot will open new routes and increase flight frequencies. This is to fill the gap left by Jetstar Asia, which is owned by Qantas Airways Ltd. and will close its operations on July 31, 2025.

According to a Bloomberg report on Saturday (6/14), Scoot will begin serving Okinawa, Japan, as well as Medan and Labuan Bajo, Indonesia, in October 2025.

Scoot and Singapore Airlines will also increase the number of weekly services to nine other destinations in Malaysia, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, and the Philippines by the end of 2025, pending regulatory approval.

As quoted from kumparan.com confirmed this information with the Ministry of Transportation, Endah Purnama Sari, Head of Public Relations and General Affairs of the Directorate General of Air Transportation of the Ministry of Transportation, explained that they have not yet received official notification from Scoot regarding the plan to add flight routes.

“In response to media reports about foreign airlines’ plans to add flight routes, including Scoot Pte Ltd (SIN)’s plans to fly to Labuan Bajo and Medan, the Directorate General of Air Transportation of the Ministry of Transportation stated that it has not yet received an official notification letter from the airline,” Endah told kumparan.

Nevertheless, the Ministry of Transportation welcomes national and foreign airlines that will submit flight route applications, provided that they meet the requirements and that time slots at the airport are available. [kumparan.com/photo special]
