MINISTRY CAMPAIGNS FOR THE APPLICATION OF REGENERATIVE TOURISM

THE MINISTRY of Tourism is promoting the implementation of regenerative tourism principles, which encompass the management of tourism activities in a manner that mitigates adverse environmental and social impacts, while fostering the revitalization and enhancement of both.

On Thursday (06/26)m 2025, at the inauguration of the Main Village at Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII) in East Jakarta, Firnandi Gufron, the Assistant Deputy of Tourism Marketing and Communication of the Ministry of Tourism, stated that the village play, which is scheduled to take place during school holidays, could serve as an event to introduce regenerative tourism activities to children.

“The time is right for us to educate. Firnandi stated that the long-term objective is to raise awareness among schoolchildren about regenerative tourism campaigns.

He explained that the application of regenerative tourism concepts included community involvement in efforts to maintain environmental cleanliness and manage and handle waste.

The Ministry of Tourism is committed to managing and handling waste effectively in the implementation of the Wonderful Indonesia main co-branding village program, in collaboration with the manager of the TMII recreation center.

“We hope to come here earlier. I will bring one coffee cup, and I hope it will not be a problem for you to use it as a trash bin,” Firnandi said.

Taman Mini has established a systematic waste management system, categorizing trash into two distinct streams: recyclable and non-recyclable.

Meanwhile TMII Operational Director Arie Prasetyo stated that the collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism enables children to participate in environmental protection efforts and sustainable tourism activities.

Arie explained that Taman Mini has a significant number of trash bins, which they are attempting to sort into three categories. They also have numerous programs in place, including earlier trash disposal.

“We endeavor to package these programs in a more engaging format for children,” he added.

Arie hopes that Main Village will become a place where children can experience TMII as a safe and sustainable tourist destination.

At the Main Co-Branding Wonderful Indonesia village, located in front of the Art Gallery building in the TMII complex, visitors have the opportunity to engage in a variety of activities. A total of 18 co-branding partners from Wonderful Indonesia participated in the implementation of the program. [antaranews]
