FASHION AND FOOD FESTIVALS CAN BOOST CREATIVE ECONOMY: MINISTER

MINISTER of Creative Economy, Teuku Riefky Harsya, has expressed his appreciation of fashion and culinary festivals, saying they can support the development of the creative economy and open up employment opportunities.

“This event (the Jakarta Fashion Food Festival, or JF3) is in line with the direction of national development as outlined in President Prabowo Subianto’s Asta Cita, especially in improving the quality of employment and developing the creative industry as a new force in the national economy,” he said here on Friday (07/25), 2025.

In the five-year National Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN), fashion and culinary sectors are prioritized sub-sectors within the creative economy. They are included in the cultural and design-based creativity cluster that requires support from all stakeholders.

According to the minister, Indonesia’s fashion and culinary industries have emerged as globally-recognized creative entities.

Fashion-culinary festivals are meant to be platforms to connect designers, creative economy practitioners, media, the government, and the public, and thereby, create a collaborative space that showcases the nation’s diversity at its best.

“This is the time for us to work together in making the creative economy a new engine of national economic growth, driven by local talent, cultural wisdom and heritage, and endless innovation,” he said.

The Ministry of Creative Economy expressed full support for initiatives such as the Jakarta Fashion Food Festival.

The event is not only providing a space for creative expression, but also opening up economic opportunities and expanding global networks for local creative economy practitioners — and has done so for more than two decades.

Meanwhile, JF3 chairperson Soegianto Nagaria said that the event, in addition to being an exhibition, is also expected to promote local designers and bring their products to the global stage. [traveltext.id/photo special]
