INDONESIA-GERMANY PARTNERSHIP EXPLORED AT GAME ECOSYSTEM MEETING

THE MINISTRY of Creative Economy invited global game investors and publishers to explore the potential of Indonesian games. The invitation was extended directly by the Minister of Creative Economy during a meeting with several industry giants, including Microsoft Xbox, XSolla, Koelnmesse, and the German Game Industry Association (GAME), at Gamescom 2025 in Cologne, Germany, on Thursday (08/21), 2025.

According to the Minister of Creative Economy, Teuku Riefky Harsya, said we look forward to strong collaborations and partnerships between the German gaming ecosystem and Indonesian gaming industry players. I believe Indonesia has the potential to produce games that can penetrate the global market.

Indonesia has participated in Gamescom every year since 2019 and is ready to strengthen collaborations between game associations. Indonesia and Germany have great potential in the gaming industry, which demonstrates the close partnership between the two countries,” he said.

He explained that the Ministry of Creative Economy’s presence demonstrates Indonesia’s commitment to being a key partner in the global gaming industry.

The Newzoo 2024 report states that Indonesia’s gaming industry has the potential to become the fourth largest in Asia and the 15th largest worldwide. It also boasts the most productive game developer ecosystem in Southeast Asia, with 150 million active gamers creating a vibrant talent pool within the gaming subsector. The country is a hub for game development in Southeast Asia, supported by government regulations, talent pools, and incentives.

This business meeting is expected to foster strategic collaborations and demonstrate serious attention to game developers, ensuring their games become more innovative. Through sustainable talent development programs, Indonesia can become part of the global gaming industry.

In addition to attending Gamescom 2025, the Minister of Creative Economy extended an invitation to German game developers to attend the Indonesia Game Developer eXchange (IGDX) in 2025. The IGDX aims to enhance the abilities of Indonesian game developers and offer access to funding and partnership opportunities via programs like the IGDX Bootcamp, IGDX Academy, IGDX Career, IGDX Business, and the IGDX Conference.

“We want to build stronger collaborations with Microsoft Xbox, XSolla, Koelnmesse, and the German Game Industry Association (GAME). We officially invite the German gaming ecosystem to explore Indonesia’s gaming ecosystem at the IGDX event in Bali from October 9-11, 2025,” the Minister of Creative Economy concluded. [traveltext.id]
