M BLOC SPACE’s NEW LOOK OFFERS MORE SPACE FOR CREATIVE MOVEMENT

M BLOC Space, a youth destination in the Blok M area of South Jakarta, is presenting a new look that provides more space for creative movement and expanding its impact.

“Nothing has changed at M Bloc in terms of vision and spirit. Our spirit remains the same: creative movement,” said M Bloc Space CEO Ahmad Romero Comacho “Popo” in his remarks at the New M Bloc Space press conference in Jakarta on Monday (10/2), 2025.

Popo explained that the revitalization and renewal of the M Bloc area began in early 2025. Repurposing the theme “Everything Returns to Blok M,” M Bloc is committed to reviving the spirit of the Blok M area as a center for activities, creativity, and popular culture for the younger generation, especially Gen Z.

Popo stated that M Bloc is a pioneer of placemaking in Indonesia and wants to rekindle that spirit in the next generation and other cities to continue building inclusive places and spaces.

He explained that M Bloc Space presents a new, more spacious space for crowds and doors that open from both the north and south.

The revitalization of the new area at M Bloc includes a larger lobby area, with a circular ecosystem concept that optimizes the use of every space.

“How can we maximize the use of every location, land use, and point, so that the crowd never stops, constantly rotating. You could say each location has its own life,” said Popo.

Popo said M Bloc also now manages various areas for creative programs, such as small and large-scale music events, a restaurant that also provides meeting space, and a collaboration with media company Infipop to provide a venue for musician collaborations and performances.

In terms of facilities, the entire area is now covered. M Bloc is also committed to providing child- and family-friendly spaces, disability-friendly spaces, and the addition of a prayer room.

In its sixth year, Popo said M Bloc aims to make a greater impact through inclusive collaborations with various industries and ecosystems to create a greater creative economy impact.

From 2019 to 2025, more than 300 musicians have made their debuts, 200 local tenants have established and expanded their presence, 500 community programs have been implemented, and 2 million visitors have visited the area annually.

“This is already an extraordinary achievement, but what if we strengthen this momentum even further? This figure reflects a real socio-economic and cultural movement, with every visitor’s step becoming part of a collective effort toward Indonesia’s creative ecosystem,” said Popo.

Meanwhile, Acting President Director of Peruri Property, Fakky Ismail, stated that Peruri’s collaboration with M Bloc has transformed a previously neglected area into a transit destination.

He explained that economic growth comes not only from high-rise buildings but also from the community, music, food, dialogue, and the hopes of young people.

“That’s why we support the continuation of these improvements with New M Bloc, not to repeat the same thing, but to magnify the impact of something that has been proven to work,” Fakky concluded. [antaranews]
