THE Indonesian Capital City Authority (IKN) officially began construction of the Legislative and Judicial Areas. This was marked by the signing of eight construction contract packages at the Coordinating Ministry for the 4th IKN Office on Thursday (12/04), 2025.
This signing strengthens the acceleration of Phase 2 of IKN development, which focuses on the development of the legislative and judicial areas.
To date, 20 of the 28 Phase 2 work packages (2025–2029) have been signed, consisting of 14 physical development packages and 6 construction management/supervision packages. This achievement marks the IKN’s readiness to enter a more intensive construction phase.
According to the IKN Authority’s report, the eight contract packages include 5 Building Construction Work Packages and a Legislative Office Area, consisting of 16 buildings constructed on a 41.81-hectare plot.
Then, two construction work packages for the Judicial Office Building and Area, consisting of four buildings, were constructed on a 15.15-hectare plot.
Furthermore, one supporting office building construction package comprises: the Phase II OIKN Office, consisting of three buildings on a 2.9-hectare plot, and the Phase I IKN Police Station, consisting of three buildings on a 3.07-hectare plot.
Meanwhile the Head of the IKN Authority, Basuki Hadimuljono, he emphasized the importance of quality in all stages of construction, including aesthetics, and environmental sustainability.
“This phase 2 development must be better than the previous one. I believe this development will serve as an example for the world in the future,” Basuki said in a statement, as quoted from the official OIKN website, Friday (12/05), 2025.
The signing of these eight contracts is a further step in ensuring that the development of the high-ranking state institutions area proceeds according to plan and established standards. The OIKN hopes that this phase will strengthen the foundation of governance in the Indonesian Capital City and support the operational target of the capital city as the Political Capital in 2028.
