SINDIKASI Media Network (SMN) or Syndicated Media Network on Tuesday, (02/10), 2026 has the privilege of meeting with Wisnu Reza, the General Manager of Hotel Bidakara Jakarta.
During this meeting, we engaged in a productive discussion on various topics, including service innovation strategies, hotel transformation, and the hotel industry’s adaptation to changes in guest behavior and the increasingly dynamic market competition.
According to him, Hotel Bidakara management is committed to ongoing adaptation, achieved through the updating of physical facilities, the strengthening of service quality, and the development of guest experiences.
“Guest tastes are evolving, and menu innovation is being reinforced. From a culinary perspective, the Hotel Bidakara regularly curates’ menus. Despite the food’s reputation for being above average for a four-star hotel, menu evaluations are still conducted on less popular items to ensure they align with guest preferences,” Wisnu Reza said.
He explained that last year’s Ramadan experience demonstrated a shift in guest preferences. While the menu for breaking the fast has historically been dominated by fried foods and traditional dishes, sushi has recently emerged as a popular option. The presence of long lines at sushi counters is a reliable indicator of shifting consumer preferences, particularly in the context of the growing popularity of visually appealing and photogenic menu displays for social media content.
“Apart from that, the pattern of guest arrivals has also changed. Prior to the commencement of the fast, at approximately 17:48 WIB, the restaurant’s seating capacity was reached. This indicates that guests arrived earlier not only to break their fast, but also to experience the atmosphere,” stated Wisnu Reza, in response to the hotel adjusted its operational hours and service area readiness.
However, when asked about the 28th anniversary celebration and Ramadan social programs, he then answered that this year, Hotel Bidakara Jakarta will be 28 years old on February 28, coinciding with the month of Ramadan. This moment will be complemented by social activities, including donations and breaking the fast with orphans, in collaboration with several foundations.
“In a departure from previous years, social activities will commence at noon. Children are invited to participate in a variety of activities, including traditional games, hotel tours, and cooking activities with professional chefs. They are also welcome to enjoy the hotel’s amenities, such as swimming pools. In the future, this program is planned to develop into a thematic overnight experience, like an express Islamic boarding school,” he affirmed.
In addition, he stated that the majority of the Hotel Bidakara’s facilities have undergone renovations, including the rooms, ballroom, meeting rooms, gym, and swimming pool. These improvements are part of a broader strategy to enhance the hotel’s human resources through renovation and transformation. Of the total 176 rooms, 28 rooms are currently in the planning stage for renovations.
“However, the transformation encompasses more than just the physical building. The primary concern is to effect a change in the mindset of human resources, as the market shifts from being dominated by the government segment to corporate, association, and leisure after the pandemic. In the context of the staycation market, guests have become a highly valued asset. They compare hotels, read reviews, and demand more personalized service. Therefore, ensuring service quality is paramount,” he noted.
Competitiveness and Business StrategyIn the hotel industry, where competition is fierce, operational efficiency is a key challenge. New hotels can now operate with leaner staff ratios, making them more cost competitive.
Wisnu Reza added that the renovations were implemented with two key objectives in mind: to boost occupancy and to maintain market share. Prior to renovations, the Bidakara Hotel’s occupancy rate ranged from 61% to 65%. Following the renovation, we aim to steadily increase occupancy while maintaining price stability, adjusted dynamically via the OTA platform.
Maintain composure during events and weddings
Hotel Bidakara Jakarta continues to be a leading wedding and event venue in Jakarta. The two primary ballrooms can accommodate up to 4,500 guests, with an additional room available for more intimate wedding celebrations. Last year, the hotel successfully hosted approximately 90 wedding events, with particularly high demand in certain months.
This hearing confirmed that Hotel Bidakara Jakarta is making a significant investment in sustainable transformation to ensure relevance in the face of evolving trends and market demands. The hotel’s future development direction is a hybrid strategy, with a strong business segment on weekdays and a leisure segment on weekends. [traveltext.id]
