NAM Air has temporarily suspended round-trip flights from Sampit to Jakarta starting July 27, 2026. This suspension means that the Sampit-Jakarta route will now only be served by Super Air Jet.
According to Raihansyah, Head of the East Kotawaringin Regency Transportation Agency (Dishub), his office only received information regarding the temporary suspension of NAM Air flights on Monday (July 27) via Sampit Haji Asan Airport.
“I only received information yesterday that NAM Air’s Jakarta-Sampit and Sampit-Jakarta routes are temporarily suspended. As for the cause, whether it is related to aircraft repairs or maintenance, I have not yet confirmed directly with NAM Air,” Raihansyah said in Sampit on Tuesday (07/28), 2026.
He stated that there is no certainty regarding how long the temporary suspension will last. The East Kotawaringin Transportation Agency (Dishub Kotatim) is still coordinating with the management of Haji Asan Sampit Airport to determine the reason for the suspension and the progress of the upcoming flight schedule.
Although the Sampit-Jakarta route has been temporarily suspended, NAM Air continues to operate several other routes from Sampit, including round-trip flights to Surabaya and Semarang.
“So, only one route has been temporarily suspended, namely Sampit-Jakarta. The Sampit-Surabaya and Sampit-Semarang round-trip routes are still operating,” he said.
Meanwhile, Raihansyah confirmed that the need for air travel between Sampit and Jakarta can still be accommodated through Super Air Jet services.
According to information from the airline and airport management, Super Air Jet’s normal passenger capacity is recorded at over 100 per flight. At certain times, the number of passengers can reach around 180.
He explained that Super Air Jet’s flight capacity is sufficient to meet passenger demand on normal days. However, different conditions could potentially arise during school holidays or periods of increased public mobility.
“On normal days, there’s still enough capacity. However, during the holiday season or when passenger demand increases, seats usually fill up quickly. Moreover, Sampit Airport also serves people from Seruyan, parts of Katingan, and the surrounding areas,” he affirmed.
Meanwhile, NAM Air Sampit District Manager Harli Rahman revealed that the temporary suspension of round-trip flights from Sampit to Jakarta is part of an operational evaluation the company has conducted over the past two months.
He explained that one of the main considerations in the decision was the suboptimal passenger load factor. This condition then impacted flight operational efficiency.
“This decision was made based on the company’s evaluation over the past two months. One of the main factors considered was the suboptimal passenger load factor, which impacted flight operational efficiency,” said Harli.
According to him, the flight network adjustments were made as part of the company’s operational optimization strategy. NAM Air will also continue to monitor market developments and opportunities for passenger growth on the Sampit-Jakarta route.
Harli emphasized that NAM Air remains committed to serving the public through routes still operating from Sampit, particularly to Surabaya and Semarang.
“We will continue to strive to provide the best service on currently operating routes, especially in Sampit,” he said.
Separately, Abdul Haris, Head of Haji Asan Sampit Airport, confirmed that his office had received official notification from NAM Air regarding the schedule change and flight cancellations on the Sampit-Jakarta round-trip route.
The airport will continue to coordinate with the airline to obtain the latest information regarding the continued operation of the route.
