THE NEW South Wales (NSW) State Government, Australia, announced new funding for the renovation of the Sydney Opera House on Tuesday (08/4), 2026.
The government said that 120 million Australian dollars (1 Australian dollar = IDR12,625) will be spent on renovations and essential maintenance projects to protect the long-term future of the World Heritage-listed building.
NSW Arts Minister John Graham and NSW Treasurer Daniel Mookhey said in a joint statement with Louise Herron, chief executive of the Sydney Opera House, that the funding will strengthen the structure beneath the northern promenade overlooking Sydney Harbour.
In addition, the opera house’s venues will be upgraded, and the digital network and event management system will be replaced for the first time since the iconic attraction opened in 1973.
“The Sydney Opera House is a symbol of modern Australia. It holds a special place in the hearts and imaginations of our community,” Graham said.
The Sydney Opera House hosts around 1,850 performances and attracts nearly 11 million visitors annually. [antaranews]
