PRESIDENT Prabowo Subianto emphasized that economic growth and investment are not the ultimate goals of development, but rather instruments for improving public welfare.
“For me, growth and investment are not the ultimate goals. Our goal is the welfare of our people,” said President Prabowo at the 2026 Annual Session of the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) and the Joint Session of the House of Representatives (DPR) and Regional Representatives Council (DPD) at the MPR/DPR Building in Jakarta on Friday (08/14), 2026.
He stated that high economic growth and investment values, if not enjoyed by the Indonesian people, will not provide any benefits.
He stated that every rupiah of investment entering Indonesia must be able to create jobs, while every government policy must have an impact on improving the lives of the people.
“Every rupiah of investment must create jobs, must result in improvements in the quality of life of our people, especially those at the bottom. That is the orientation of the government I lead,” he said.
President Prabowo emphasized that a great nation will never leave people hungry, especially as Indonesia is a member of the G20.
He emphasized that the government will continue to seek solutions so that Indonesians can achieve equitable prosperity.
“We must not abandon the helpless, we must not allow hunger to exist in Indonesia. The Republic of Indonesia, a member of the G20, does not deserve to have people still hungry,” he said.
This Friday, the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR), the House of Representatives (DPR), and the Regional Representatives Council (DPD) held the Annual Session of the MPR and the Joint Session of the DPR and DPD. Among the highlights were President Prabowo Subianto’s speech on the delivery of the Performance Report of State Institutions and the President’s State Address on the 81st Anniversary of Indonesian Independence. In addition to the speech, the government also broadcast a video highlighting the government’s achievements.
