DIRECT flight options from Bandung’s Husein Sastranegara Airport are expanding once again. Super Air Jet is set to launch six new routes connecting Bandung to several major Indonesian cities, starting September 18, 2026.
Super Air Jet’s Corporate Communications representative, Danang Mandala Prihantoro, stated that the six routes are Bandung-Medan (Kualanamu), Bandung-Bali, Bandung-Pekanbaru, Bandung-Makassar, Bandung-Pontianak, and Bandung-Balikpapan.
Flights for the Bandung-Medan, Bandung-Bali, and Bandung-Pekanbaru routes are scheduled to begin operations on September 18, 2026. The following day, September 19, 2026, service will commence on the Bandung-Makassar and Bandung-Pontianak routes. Meanwhile, the Bandung-Balikpapan route is scheduled to launch on September 22, 2026.
“The addition of these six routes expands direct flight access from Bandung to regions including Sumatra, Bali, Sulawesi, and Kalimantan, as well as to the area serving as the gateway to the Capital City of Nusantara (IKN),” he said.
Danang noted that the launch of these routes offers a wider range of travel options for the people of Bandung and West Java.
“For these flights, Super Air Jet is deploying Airbus A320 aircraft with a capacity of 180 economy-class passengers,” he added.
According to him, the route to Medan provides access for those traveling for business, education, or tourism to North Sumatra, including the Lake Toba area. Meanwhile, the Pekanbaru route serves as a direct flight link from Bandung to Riau.
“These routes can support the mobility of businesspeople, workers, students, and families traveling together,” he affirmed.
Additionally, the flight to Bali complements the travel options available from Bandung to one of Indonesia’s premier tourist destinations. He noted that the Bandung-Makassar route also opens direct access to a key hub for trade and economic activity in Eastern Indonesia.
“Beyond business interests, Makassar is a destination for education, healthcare, and tourism. Regarding Kalimantan, Super Air Jet is launching Bandung-Pontianak and Bandung-Balikpapan routes,” he noted.
Danang also explained that Pontianak serves as a gateway to West Kalimantan, while Balikpapan holds a strategic position for business, energy, investment, and government activities, including access to the new national capital (IKN) area.
With the addition of these routes, the public gains not only a wider range of destinations but also direct travel options from Bandung, eliminating the need to fly via other airports first.
He added that this enhanced connectivity could serve various needs, ranging from tourism, business activities, and Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) operations to education and family visits.
